Biography
Jean-Louis N'cho is a photographer from Côte d'Ivoire, currently residing in France since February 2021, where he is pursuing his studies. His photographic journey began in 2016 as a means to express his emotions and find personal fulfillment. Through his photographs, he aims to showcase the beauty of Africa, including its diverse cultures and abundant natural resources that make this continent a true gem. He is part of a group of photographers known as "IPhotographers" who exclusively use mobile phones to capture images. Initially, he turned to his phone because it was the most accessible technology for him. Digital SLR cameras were expensive, but his phone was readily available. Over time, he embraced this medium as a creative challenge. He firmly believes that creativity knows no bounds and is the most crucial aspect of the artistic process. Once he grasped this concept, he stopped worrying about equipment and focused on harnessing his creativity.
He sees this opportunity as an excellent platform to share his work with a wider audience and demonstrate that even with limited resources, remarkable and impactful art can be created.Despite limited resources, his creativity has thrived, earning him recognition such as winning the Galaxy grant from Prazzle on February 24, 2024, organized by Prazzle Inc. Notably, his work was exhibited at the AFRICAN FOTO FAIR festival in Côte d'Ivoire from November 5 to December 22, 2023, under the auspices of artist Aida Muluneh. Furthermore, his photographs have been featured on Photovogue.com as "photos of the day" on January 22, February 4, and February 26, 2024. Prazzle Inc has also highlighted his talent with articles published on November 18, 2023, and February 11, 2024. Additionally, his Instagram images have gained popularity, being reposted by prominent accounts dedicated to African art, including Okay Africa, Afrodysée, Osengwa, Raw melanin, Afriquette, and The Bright Continent, thereby amplifying his impact and reach within the artistic community.
Goals and aspirations
My principal goal is to be able to share my culture and tradition and to spread the love I have for my continent worldwide through my photos. I want young Africans to be proud of their cultural heritage and not be ashamed to claim it. For these upcoming years , I have set myself the goal of participating in at least 2 group exhibitions through open calls. Thus I hope to be spotted and represented in the years to come by a gallery and to be able to have a solo exhibition. This is the best homage I could pay to my ancestors.
